
Lean Sigma Black Belt Virtual Training
Welcome to the registration page for the OPHA Lean Sigma BLACK Belt Workshop!
This program builds on *Green Belt training to provide participants with a practical application of advanced Lean Sigma tools and techniques, as well as developing the appropriate process improvement, leadership and project/program management skills to drive the changes that are necessary for a successful Lean Sigma transformation. The program has been custom built for public health, including relevant examples, scenarios and case studies.
Our regular 3-day in-person workshop will now be offered through 6 online sessions over two weeks in March and April.
- Week 1: March 28, 29 & 30, 1:00-4:30pm ( 3 x 3.5 hour sessions)
- Week 2: April 12, 13 & 14, 1:00-4:30pm ( 3 x 3.5 hour sessions)

About the Black Belt Workshop
The program combines classroom training and online learning, whereby participants attend six (6) x 0.5-day online live instructor-led training sessions that build on Green Belt and are provided with online learning resources and core textbooks. The following summarizes the focus of each training day:
- Session 1 & 2: Lean Sigma Strategic Planning and Deployment
- Session 3 & 4: Managing Lean Sigma Projects and Programs & Effective Leadership and Change Management
- Session 5 & 6: Advanced Lean Sigma Tools and Practices for Public Health
Program Materials
Core materials for the program consist of the following:
- Classroom training content in hard copy format
- Relevant tools and templates for use in applying key concepts and techniques
- Online access to relevant modules on Leading Edge Group’s Learning Management System (LMS) portal
- Three core textbooks
- Recommended reading list containing suitable references
Assessment
Program content understanding and application will be assessed through the submission of module assignments and a Black Belt in-house improvement project.
Expert Support
As well as attending classroom training, each Lean Black Belt participant is assigned an expert mentor to provide support throughout the program. This involves providing any clarification on subject matter queries, advising on suitable project selection and scoping and supporting participants as they undertake the project and module assignments.

Black Belt instructor – Krista Galic:
Krista is trainer and mentor with over 15 years experience in public health. Her expertise spans continuous improvement, quality assurance, project management, change management, risk management, client service, accountability metrics and strategic planning. Krista has led projects including facilitation of mapping sessions, supporting teams to identify and implement improvements and developing monitoring and sustainability plans. More recently, Krista has supported and led multiple process improvements related to the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out. She has worked with and led large groups and organizations across sectors to achieve transformational change and build effective partnerships.
Krista is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Registered Nurse with a Masters in Public Health and a certified instructor and facilitator.
