Each year, OPHA recognizes outstanding contributions to the practice of public health in Ontario by conferring a prestigious roster of awards to deserving individuals. These include the following:
Award of Excellence
Public health professionals are contributing in numerous ways to the health and well-being of Ontarians. They are instrumental in leading social change and making community health advancements.
Through its Award of Excellence, OPHA would like to recognize those that are leading such public health interventions — the kind that attracts the necessary public and political support, health advocates who educate policymakers, the media and the public about the social and economic benefits of public health and prevention.
Do you know a Public Health Champion who have led such initiatives, whose dedication has changed lives and improved a community? If so, please take a few minutes to nominate these leaders for this award.
Legacy Award
Do you know a leader that has made an outstanding contribution to the health of Ontarians?
OPHA would like to recognize the work of these leaders in public health and asks for your help in finding the right candidates. Please take 5 minutes of your time to nominate a leader for OPHA’s Honorary Award.
Community Partner Award
Have you and your community partners make a positive contribution towards reducing health inequities. If so, we would like to hear from you and recognize these achievements as the recipient of OPHA’s Community Partner Award.
Take a look back at the health equity related projects that you, your team and community partners have executed within the last two years and consider entering them in this year’s awards program.
Sheela Basrur Award
The late Dr. Sheela Basrur left an impressive legacy as a champion for a strong and dynamic public health system.
Do you know a current full or part time student enrolled in an area related to public health at the undergrad and graduate level (e.g. MPH, Nursing, Medicine, Health Policy, etc.) who demonstrates the leadership qualities exemplified by the late Dr. Sheela Basrur and is already making a difference in their chosen field.
If so, please consider putting forward their name for the Sheela Basrur Award.
